Bright Sparks!

As part of Science week this week, children in South America class have been making circuits in afternoon lessons!

This week, our Year 5 and 6 pupils have been diving into the exciting world of electricity! They have been learning how electrical circuits can be represented using scientific symbols and have been putting their knowledge into practice by building real circuits from circuit diagrams.

Working collaboratively in teams, the children experimented with different components to see how changes affected their circuits. They explored questions such as how to make a bulb shine brighter or how altering the circuit could change the pitch of a motor. Using their growing scientific understanding, pupils made thoughtful predictions, tested their ideas, and carefully observed the results.

Not every experiment behaved exactly as expected - but that’s all part of being a scientist! The classes showed fantastic curiosity and problem-solving skills as they worked together to investigate why certain results occurred and how they could improve their designs.

It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm, teamwork, and scientific thinking in action. Well done, Year 5 and 6, for approaching your investigations with such energy and inquisitive minds!
